Position Title:                  Solutions Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY

The Solutions Analyst will work as a member of Holborn’s Analytics team with a focus on developing tools and infrastructure.   Additionally, the team member will be tasked with interfacing with other teams within Holborn to understand workflows and develop solutions for improvement.    The individual in this role will gain exposure to various areas of (re)insurance and will develop a thorough understanding of teams’ operations/practices, command of infrastructure, and familiarity with data used to study risk.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leverage and expand Holborn’s suite of proprietary tools
  • Engage in model building and provide recommendations to improve, streamline, and integrate current processes
  • Manage analytical product development/on-boarding
  • Engage with various disciplines to identify inefficiencies and devise solutions to realize synergies
  • Assist in presentation of developed products to both internal and external clients
  • Analyze impact and relevant risk measures of various proposed reinsurance alternatives
  • Respond to client requests for information, queries, and concerns
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with reinsurers, clients, and all internal staff

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • BA/BS in data science, computer science, mathematics, business analytics, or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • High attention to detail, organization, and forward-thinking interoperability
  • Strong verbal/written skills
  • Ability to identify patterns/relationships between disparate processes/entities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information and issues
  • Must be a strong team player and mentor to others

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Proficiency in (MS) SQL, and/or NoSQL technology (e.g. MongoDB)
  • Proficiency in object-oriented scripting (e.g. Python, C#)
  • (Re)insurance industry experience
  • Experience developing web applications, data visualization, and storytelling
  • High level of creativity, ability to devise novel solutions for unstructured problems
  • Command of probability and/or statistics
