Stephen Murphy is president of S.V. Murphy & Co., a privately owned financial advisory firm, and has been an investment banker for over 40 years. He is also a director of: The First of Long Island Corporation and its commercial banking subsidiary, The First National Bank of Long Island; Man FRM Alternative Multi-Strategy Fund LLC; and five private investment funds managed by Neuberger Berman Group LLC.
From 1969 until 1988, Steve worked in various positions at The First Boston Corporation, ultimately serving as managing director of the Commercial Bank Group. He then worked at Merrill Lynch until 1990 as managing director of the Financial Institutions Mergers and Acquisitions Group. He started S.V. Murphy & Co. in 1991.
Steve is a director of: The Viscardi Center (formerly the National Center for Disability Services); Peoples’ Symphony Concerts; and Locust Valley Cemetery Association. At the Archdiocese of New York he serves as chairman of the Investment Committee, a member of the Audit Committee and the Finance Council, and as a director of Catholic Indemnity Insurance Company.
Steve received a B.S.B.A degree from Georgetown University with a concentration in management, and an M.B.A. from Columbia University with a concentration in finance.
