In the article, Mr. Harrison notes that insurers were recognizing their largest ever catastrophe loss by significant degrees, including both crop and property-related losses, but he laments the inconsistent responsiveness of the reinsurance market, a function of the lack of media attention. Regarding those that have been responsive to claims, Mr. Harrison recognizes the London market and attributes the caliber of their responsiveness to long-term relationships with the ceding insurance companies.
