July 15 Cat Update

Sea surface temperatures of eighty degrees now reach the southern border of Virginia with eighty-six degree temperatures along the Gulf Coast. The Bermuda High has taken on an eastern position over the last two weeks, which correlates with more exposure along the Atlantic coastline and less along the Gulf.

Tropical storm Bret formed late yesterday and is forecast to travel northeast, away from the US coastline and into the open waters of the Atlantic. It has sustained winds of 50mph and is not expected to reach hurricane strength.

Our next scheduled report will be on August 1st.
