The Atlantic has been quite active over the last week, with as many as four organized low pressure systems at a time, although no hurricanes have developed yet in 2011.
Current weather conditions are largely unchanged from two weeks ago and are near expected levels for mid-August. As seen in the attached map, 80-degree waters now extend up to Delaware. Most coastlines in the Gulf of Mexico are in the mid-to-upper 80’s. The Bermuda High is currently not well organized, but for most of the last month it has been in an easterly position. This correlates with more exposure on the Atlantic coast and less in the Gulf.
There are no Tropical systems that threaten the U.S. today. Our next scheduled report will be on September 1st.
